My family has always had a love of older TV shows, our favorite being Gilligan’s Island. When we would go on road trips, we would watch episode after episode of “Gilligan” and laugh until our sides were sore. We even had a Gilligan’s Island birthday party for one of my siblings where we each dressed up like a different character. I will let you decide who was who. With that in mind, it will make complete sense that when Dellas, Nancy, Kyle, and I decided to go on a boat tour of Lake Minnetonka (aboard the Steamboat Minnehaha) and, “the weather started getting rough”, the Gilligan’s Island theme song is what instantly popped into my head. With a few edits, of course.
Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip.
That started from this Minnesota port, aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailing man, the skipper brave and sure.
Twenty-five passengers set sail that day for a one hour tour. A one hour tour.
The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnehaha would be lost. The Minnehaha would be lost.
The ship set ground on the shore of this cold and windy dock.
With Jeneca and Kyle, too. Dellas, and his wife.
A WWII vet, a professor, and some families, too. Here in Excelsior!
