At the church I attend, I am a leader over a group of Young Women. As a leader, I not only get to give lessons on spiritual topics, but I also get to help plan and attend weekly activities. A couple weeks ago, the Young Women joined up with the Young Men to play boot hockey at a local ice rink.
Though I have lived in Minnesota for over a year and a half now, I feel like that activity was one of the most Minnesotan things I have done while here. After all, we were sliding around on one of the hundreds of outdoor skating rinks, in shivering cold temperatures, and playing a sport that originated here. Can I consider that a rite of passage? If surviving this winter wasn’t enough of one, I sure hope this will suffice.
